What Is Mole Removal In Specific?

Moles, or nevi, are often removed for multiple reasons. They can be removed by 2 very common surgical ways:

1. Excision (cutting) with stitches.

2. Excision with cauterization (using laser-based tool used to burn away the mole)
, we call it 'laser mole removal'

Although laser mole removal has been commonly performed, it is not usually the method of choice for most larger or deeper moles because the laser light might not penetrate deeply enough.

Usually, the dermatologist or doctor (a skin specialist) may prefer excision with or without stitches depending on the depth of the mole and the type of cosmetic results.

So, exactly what is a mole?

Many people think that a mole is any dark spot or abnormality in the skin. Doctors define these very differently. However, skin marks such as these are not treated the same way moles are and are not discussed here:

a) Abnormal blood vessels (hemangiomas)

b) Birthmarks

c) Keratoses (benign or pre-cancerous spottings, which surface after 30 years of age)

What really causes moles for you?

Some people are just naturally born with moles. Other moles appear over a certain period of time.

Sun exposure or sub bathing seems to play a role in the causes of the development of moles and may even be responsible in the development of atypical, or dysplastic, moles.

Heredity cannot be pushed aside. Many families have a type of mole known as dysplastic (atypical), which can be linked with a higher frequency of melanoma or skin cancer.
